Similar events are also encouraged to use the addendum. This can be done under rule 86.3 if the national authority prescribes that rule changes are allowed for the purpose of development and testing. Please note that the national authority may prescribe that such changes require its approval. Events that use this addendum are requested to provide feedback to the ISAF to support further development.

Experimental Appendix QUMPIRED FLEET RACING RULES Experimental Appendix Q Umpired Fleet Racing Rules In November 2004 the ISAF Council decided to place Experimental Appendix Q, Umpired Fleet Racing Rules, on the ISAF website together with a questionnaire for umpires, chief umpires and competitors using the appendix to comment to the ISAF. The aim of this appendix is to have all boat-vs.-boat protests decided at the time of the incident. This appendix is only recommended for small or moderate-size fleets of one-design boats or boats of similar size and speed. There should be at least one umpire boat for every six boats racing.
