The Sailing Venue

Qingdao is an eastern Chinese coastal city in the Shandong Province. It has a northern temperate zone monsoon climate and is located 690km to the east of Beijing.

The Qingdao International Marina, which is currently under construction on the old site of the Beihai (North-sea) Shipyard, is located by the Fushan Bay in Qingdao.

The competition area is in the Jiangquan Bay, Fushan Bay and outside of Damai Island. There will be five course areas each with a diameter of one nautical mile. The on-shore facilities in the bay will include all the facilities and areas required by ISAF.

The Qingdao International Marina will be a lasting legacy for the sport of sailing in an important region of China and will be the future centre of international and national sailing activities. It will also provide a base to promote popular interest and development of the sport of sailing in China.

There will be a daily air flights between Qingdao and Beijing.
