Women's One Person Dinghy - Laser Radial

The Laser was designed in 1969 by Canadians Bruce KIRBY and Ian BRUCE with simplicity and performance in mind. The Laser Radial has a sail area 18% smaller than the Laser Standar and a more flexible and slightly shorter lower mast.

The Laser is a strict one-design class and is popular with sailors at all levels. It offers a physical and tactical challenge which is quick to rig and easy to transport.

The class was selected in 2004 as the women's single-handed dinghy with the aim of increasing the participation of emerging nations in the Olympic Games.

All the equipment including sails and foils are supplied by a licensed builder at the Olympic Games.
