Light Winds On the Courses Today
Light winds postponed races today, caused cancellation and abandonment of some. The Tornado Class got in a second race today by starting very late in the afternoon. No races were run for the Mistral Men.
There are two unofficial winners of Gold Medals: Mateus Kusznierewicz of Poland has won in the Finn Class, and Lai Shan Lee of Hong Kong has won the Women's Mistral Class. Congratulations to both! This is the first Olympic medal ever won by any man or woman from Hong Kong.
Total of races to date, and the leader (unofficial, pending protests) in each are:

Racing tomorrow: One final race for the Mistral Women (Lai Lee need not compete as there are 2 throwouts allowed), two more races for the Mistral Men to finish their series. The Finn and Star classes will also have just one more race tomorrrow to finish their regatta. Soling race 10, the final race in the fleet racing portion of the regatta will be held tomorrow. Tornado class will hold races 9 and 10 of their schedule 11. The Laser and Europe will hold races 9 and 10, with one more to go after tomorrow. The men's and women's 470's will have race 8, starting after the Star and Finn class on the same course. Racing starts at 11:00 AM. Tune in to our mark by mark results for the latest. One to watch-- the Tornado, where Mitch Booth's two first place finishes today puts Australia back into the race with Spain for the Gold.
