AUSSIE EUROPE SAILOR GETS CARBON MAST
Australian Europe sailor, Christine BRIDGE, one of the improvers in the single-handed women's class, has elected to use a new carbon fiber mast in the Olympic competition. The carbon fiber rig, made in New Zealand, arrived only this week and will be one of only three in the regatta, BRIDGE said today.
"i've used it a couple of times and i have been very pleased...and today it passed the measurers."Meanwhile Australian team leader John HARRISON believes his team has strong medal prospects. "the coaches are telling me that most of our sailors are as fast as any on the course", he said."i believe that in six of the ten disciplines we are in the top five competitors - and that means we are in with medal prospects. christine bridge has the best boatspeed yet with her new mast, colin beashel is working quietly as he always does while michael blackburn in the lasers could be the darkhorse of the regatta",
HARRISON added.
