THE ARTS FESTIVAL - A RICH MENU
Telephone tickets for the 159 events in the arts festival also started in February, and demand has been booming. At this stage, it is safe to predict that most of the shows will be paying to a full house. The programme contains unique performances, including the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Yoel Levi, the Orchestra of Australia in a concert with Atlanta Youth Orchestra, the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks and two Olympic Jazz summits with trumpet-player Wynton Marsalis. This is the first time that ticketing for the festival is being combined with competition ticketing, so no one knew quite what to expect, but the demand has surprised even the most optimistic predictions. Nevertheless, there are still plenty of seats for performances by the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, the Miami City Ballet and the Atlanta Ballet.
