IYRU Olympic Update

1996 OLYMPIC DEBUT

Appearing for the first time at the Olympic Regatta as independent nations, whose sailors competed at Barcelona together with those from Russia as the `Unified Team', are Belarus, Georgia and the Ukraine.

The following IYRU Member National Authorities have been approved since 1992, and will be competing in the Olympic Games for the first time - St Lucia (first time ever participating in an Olympic Regatta), American Samoa, Cook Islands, and the Slovak Republic.

MNA's participating in 1996, but not 1992, are: Bahrain, Chinese Taipei, Czechoslovakia, Cuba, Ecuador, Malaysia, Paraguay, Qatar, Romania and Venezuela.
