TWO PERSON KEELBOAT OPEN INTERNATIONAL STAR CLASS

OLYMPIC HISTORY

The Star Class has competed in every Olympics since 1932, except 1976 when it was dropped in favour of the Tempest two-person keelboat. Re-instated for 1980, the Star is the oldest Olympic Class with 1996 its 14th Olympic appearance.

THE BOATS AT THE OLYMPICS

Competitors shall supply their own yachts, sails and equipment for the Star Class. The boats must be presented with a valid measurement certificate and, where required by the Class Rules, the completed measurement form and will be subject to full measurement.

Equipment will be limited as follows, except where the Olympic Regatta Measurement Committee approves replacement of damaged or lost items:

  • Two Whisker Poles
  • Two Mainsails
  • Two Jibs
