OLYMPIC HISTORY
Boardsailing first became an Olympic discipline at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. At that time the discipline was for men only and the Windglider class of board was raced. In 1988, Seoul, Pusan, the class of board used changed to the Lechner A-390.
In 1992, a new boardsailing discipline for women was introduced and sailed on the Lechner A-390. In November 1992, after the Barcelona Games, the IYRU chose to change classes and nominated the Mistral One-Design as the Olympic Class for the 1996 Olympic Regatta. Many of the same sailors from 1992 are now sailing this new board which is making its debut on the water in 1996.
